The truth is, I haven’t updated this thing once since I’ve moved to Los Angeles. The past year has been one of the most significant of my life and I didn’t write one line here. I pretty much forgot this page completely. Where do blogs belong in the world of Facebook, Twitter, etc.? I know no one comes here anyway so it isn’t that big of a loss.
I’m a dad now… have been for four months. Wow… how time flies. Fatherhood is the most amazing experience of my life. Yes, it’s a cliché, but it’s also very true. The past four months have changed me more than any other experience of my life… and for the better. I love my daughter… I love my wife… and in short, I love my life.
Now that I’ve remembered this page, maybe I’ll post again in the future. Maybe some updates on the many home improvements and such. I’m sure everyone who reads this is just itching to read something new… all two of you. :)

NockeyHome: Two More Weeks Edition
Well, it looks like it's going to happen now. I've been hesitant to post anything further about the house just in case some unforeseen leviathan rose from the depths of the countless documents we continue to sign. Buying a house is a very inefficient process with lots of back and forth and a whole lot of signing. I don't believe I have signed my name so much within such a short period of time since perhaps when I first learned cursive. Back then, I would practice, again and again, attempting to cement the autograph I would undoubtedly be giving to my adoring fans when I got older...when I would obtain my due riches and fame from being a comic book artist. Adulthood has since remedied both my assessment of my artistic talents and my understanding of capitalism in regard to artist salaries.
Of course, nothing is truly done until the proverbial fat lady sings, so I'm still waiting for her dulcet tones to lull me into that wonderous sleep of homeownership. We shall see if she sings well. The closing is April 17th. Then the real work begins.
Right now, Katie and I (read: "mostly Katie") continue to get prepared for our trek down the west coast. The moving man arrives on Monday and starts to pack all of our things. I have the privelege of working for a company that does all the work for us. It's a good thing. Then, it's Easter / Passover with the Sprenger clan, followed by a week long stay with our good friends Paul and Heather, some two miles from the future West Coast Nachbaur Enclave. We are looking forward to it...with bells on.

NockeyHome: Made an Offer Edition
Well, if all goes well, there's a good chance that this blog may start to look a lot like a home improvement blog. Yep...Katie and I are tipping our toe into the real estate market. Our decision has elicited a lot of feedback...all of which has fallen into one of two camps. The first camp is the "you should wait because house prices are still falling." The second camp is the "right now is the best time to buy" kind. Well, after much research and differing opinions, Katie and I are optimistic that we're making the right decision, armed with the idea that we intend to make a home and live there for at least the next five years. We're also keeping our budget within our modest means...allowing for something that is sustainable on a single salary cause you never know.
Anyway, we found a little place and made an offer. And it looks like it's been accepted. It's a foreclosure... last week Katie checked out some twenty houses in our price range and your average foreclosure under $300K apparently is barely habitable. I'm not just talking no curb appeal...we're talking condemnable. But, she prevailed and we found one in the mess that was worth it. My guess is, given the sales history of the place, that someone bought it to flip it and then got foreclosed on. As a result, the place is in pretty good shape and just needs some reworking to be a great place. Plus...it has a HUGE yard.
Here are a few photos of the place. Like I said, it needs some loving, but a ton of potential...which we already have plans to realize.

Wedding Photos!
Wow. Time off is an amazing thing. Finally getting around to those things that have been hanging over my head forever! So, we finally uploaded the wedding photos.
All of our official photos are now up! If you'd like any specific photos for your own collection, please let me know and I can get you the high resolution ones.

Part of the impetus to get this uploaded comes from Jade. She was nice enough to send us her photos of the wedding and a video of the actual ceremony! Below is her photos and the video (I added some subtitles as we didn't use a microphone). I also downloaded and made an album out of a series of photos that Katie's friend Heather McElroy took as well.
I know it's been over three months now, but thanks to everyone who helped make our day so special.
Snow Days
So, it's been a little while since my last post. That's not to say life hasn't been eventful...it certainly has.
As some of you may have heard, Seattle has gotten a whole lot of snow. Normally, it really doesn't snow much up here and so there isn't a whole lot of infrastructure in this city to deal with it. So, when it does snow, it pretty much shuts everything down. My work closed last Thursday. And since then, they've been closed on Friday, Monday, and now today. I feel sorta gypped that I took vacation this week, since I would have had these days off either way.
Anyways, I thought I'd share a few photos from around the house over the last week.
Also, enjoy this little movie I took in our backyard of Shady. After a night of freezing rain, the snow around us got itself a nice crunchy outer shell.
Happy Holidays!
